Internal Medicine & Functional Medicine Bloomfield, CT

About

Dr. Eileen Comia of Advance Biomedical Treatment Center in Bloomfield, Connecticut, takes a different approach to treating each patient than most doctors. She offers the best of both worlds. Aside from the usual medications, Dr. Comia offers an alternative approach to treating the malady because she believes that there’s always more than one way to treat a condition. Most doctors can only offer the usual medications, radiological procedures, and interventions. Dr Comia proposes a logical and comprehensive approach to resolve a multitude of symptoms altogether with an array of services that no other doctor provides. With her knowledge of environmental medicine and toxicology, Dr. Comia takes a functional medicine approach to treating the underlying cause of the problem; and therefore treating the whole person, not just the condition. Her intention is to “cure” rather than to “cover up” and to “restore” health rather than to “control the condition”. Ultimately, her goal is to defy disease progression and aging. She believes in empowering and educating her patients so they can make informed decisions and take an active role in their journey to health.

As an Integrative Medicine specialist and a board-certified Internal Medicine physician, Dr. Eileen Comia is a strong advocate of biomedical interventions in the treatment of Autism and Autism-related disorders and chronic illnesses. She was personally mentored by Dr. Sidney M. Baker, co-founder of the Autism Research Institute (formerly Defeat Autism Now), an organization of physicians and scientists searching for causes and treatment modalities for Autism.

Dr. Comia completed her postgraduate residency training in Internal Medicine at Overlook Hospital, a major affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She received her Medical Degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Philippines. She went into private practice for seven years before pursuing the “fight against Autism”.

Being the parent of a young adult with special needs, Dr. Comia understands the frustration and desperation in rearing a child afflicted with Autism. Dr. Comia established Advance Biomedical Treatment Center with the goal of not necessarily finding a cure for Autism, but treating the underlying functional and biochemical abnormalities found commonly in children within the Autism Spectrum.

Dr. Comia is affiliated with the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS), Autism Research Institute (ARI), and Trinity Health of New England. She is a frequent presenter at state conferences, local chapters and parent support groups for Autism and in Integrative Medicine.
